On behalf of the National Organizing Committee, I am pleased to extend an invitation to you to attend the 13th Animal Science Congress of the Asian -Australasian Association of Animal Production Societies which will be held in Hanoi-Vietnam, September 22 - 26, 2008.

The First Animal Science Congress of AAAP was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1980 and since then, there have been 11 meetings. These have been held throughout the Asian - Australasian region: in the Philippines (1982), Korea (1985), New Zealand (1987), Taiwan (1990), Thailand (1992), Indonesia (1994), Japan (1996), Australia (2000), India (2002), Malaysia (2004) and Korea (2006). These congresses greatly contributed to the sustainable development of food production and the social economy through the improvement of animal production in the region.
The theme of the forthcoming 13th Animal Science Congress of AAAP is   "Animal Agriculture and the role of small holder farmers in a global economy ". The aims of this congress are to provide an opportunity to the exchange new informations on animal science and technology, as well as to discuss the strategy to support the farmers (especially for the small holder farmers) facing the global market system; to introduce the companies, units, ... which are related to the animal production. At the same time, the congress will serve as a congenial venue for people from our Asian - Australasian region and beyond to make new contacts and renew old friendships.

We look forward to your active support to ensure the success of our Congress. I am looking forward to seeing you at the 13th AAAP Animal Science Congress in Hanoi, Vietnam and I hope you will have the opportunity to enjoy Vietnam-its people, culture, tradition, cuisine and wonderful diverse landscape.
